EA Backtest Reports
Real MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester results. They are not cherry-picked or curve-fitted.
Every expert advisor sold by FxTT includes a publicly available MT5 Strategy Tester backtest report generated with high-quality tick data. Reports cover 2008β2025 across multiple instruments and timeframes. We publish full reports, including drawdown periods, recovery phases, and losing streaks, rather than only favourable runs. Review the report before deploying an EA on a live or funded account.
Trendline PRO EA
Trendline PRO is alert-driven β its results depend on the lines you draw and manage yourself, so there is no single fixed backtest report that represents "the" outcome. You can reproduce your own run in the MT5 Strategy Tester's Visual mode: draw and save your setup as a chart template on a live or demo chart, then load that template on a Strategy Tester chart for the same symbol and period. Non-visual and optimization runs have no chart, so drawn lines cannot trigger during those tests.

The MT5 Strategy Tester report surface is dense with numbers. Here are the five metrics that matter most:
Net profit is the total gain after all costs. Profit factor is the ratio of gross profit to gross loss β a value above 1.0 means the strategy made money overall. A well-designed EA should target a profit factor above 1.5. Anything below 1.2 is marginal. Anything above 3.0 may indicate over-fitting.
The largest peak-to-trough decline in equity during the test period, expressed as a percentage. Lower is safer. Prop firms typically require this to stay below 10%. An EA with a 25% historical max drawdown will almost certainly violate a prop firm's 10% limit β even if the overall results look impressive.
The number of completed trades in the test. Statistical significance improves with sample size. A backtest with fewer than 200 trades over several years is too small to draw confident conclusions. More trades across different market conditions give a truer picture of expected performance.
The average dollar profit (or loss) per trade, calculated as net profit divided by total trades. A positive expected payoff is required for long-term viability. This number also helps you project expected monthly returns at a given trade frequency.
Recovery factor is net profit divided by maximum drawdown. A value above 3 means net profit was more than three times the maximum drawdown in this test. A value below 1 means net profit did not cover the largest drawdown during the test period.
Important Caveat
Backtest results are not a guarantee of future performance.Backtest reports are generated on historical price data and are subject to lookahead bias, spread assumptions, and execution conditions that may differ from live trading. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Market conditions change β a strategy that performed well from 2010 to 2024 may behave differently in future environments. Always validate any EA on a demo account for a minimum of 30 days before deploying capital on a live or funded account.
